OK, I"ll give a positive... Muni deals can still get done, and they don't always have cash any more. I did $1 million + deals with two munis in the past six months, and several smaller deals.

As a recruiter are you not worried that lessors could move to this service instead of using recruiters like yourselves ?

Two questions surfaced in regards to my review of the new ELFA job board and I thought they were worth blogging about.
First:
As a recruiter are you not worried that Lessors could move to this service instead of using recruiters like yourselves?

Honestly I think that a service like this is great for leasing for a number of reasons. It is a needed resource for those people who are out of work or find themselves in a situation where they may soon be. In the economy today where banks are swa… Continue

Being a member recruiter I wasted no time in signing up for an account and posting some openings in Southern California that we are working on. (I have some excellent opportunities there)
The interface is simple and functional and I enjoyed the process. Although I was confused about how to take advantage of the code they listed that doubles the length of the ad and resume search the customer service was… Continue

An Analysis of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Report

This morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics gave us a little bit better news than they have for the last few months. The workforce lost just 51,000 positions, 20,000 less than expected. Additionally, May and June's numbers were revised up 26,000 making July's net loss just 25,000 positions. Despite this, the unemployment rate did rise from 5.5 percent to 5.7 percent after being stable last month. Of course this is not the right direction, but we need to remember the historical context where ove… Continue

Will Boomers Really Have to Retire, or Be Able to in this Economy?

Marty Johnson asked some very good questions in his comments to me on my last Blog. I thought it would be worth expounding on the issues he raised in that I was headed in this direction anyway. I recommend that you take a quick look at Marty’s questions but to sum up:
1. Is everyone of retirement age actually going to retire? Are we seeing droves of people leaving the work force? (Answer: NO)
2. If there is a shortage or one coming why aren’t salaries “spiking” up? (His example was… Continue

Baby Boomers Begin to Retire at 330 an Hour in 2008

On February 15th 2008 the first baby boomer received a Social Security check.
We all prepared for the year 2000 and the impact that computers were going to have on us all. Many people bought generators and stocked up on food and water, expecting the end of the world.
When nothing happened at midnight 2000 a strange dynamic settled in that bears a resemblance to something I noticed living 30 years in Florida. I call it Disaster Denial.
In Florida Hurricanes come almost every year. Everyone… Continue

Hi Fred

I was wondering if you could help - I am trying to reach out to Andrew Lea and I see he is one of your friends. Reason being is that 3 years ago Andrew wrote a really interesting article about 'the potential of web services to transform equipment leasing' - quite an insight and ahead of its time...I am the co-founder of smartfundit.com which is the world’s first online technology finance marketplace. We make it easy for technology vendors such as SAP, Infor, Oracle, and Salesforce.com to work with finance companies at point of sale to make their products easier to buy. The technology market that is estimated at over $500 billion per annum, and is a market that is deeply fragmented and inefficient that’s why to date over a $1 billion has been transacted through Smartfundit.com in the UK alone which already represents 2%. We are now actively marketing to our customers the products of other asset funders and this is an area which has explosive growth potential. We have 14 funders working with us in the US and I would welcome Andrew's views on how we can fast-track our service.

A long comment - thanks for reading and let me know if you can help.

Kind regards

Suki
